View Responses by Segments, Filters, or Attributes

Please note that we are in the process of replacing Filters with Attributes. If you have Filters in your account, please follow the Filter instructions (click here). If you have Attributes in your account, please follow the Attributes instructions (click here).

If you would like to get set up with Attributes early, please reach out to your Customer Success contact or our Support team.

Attributes Version

Once users are assigned to Attributes and/or Segments, you can select and view data in a more sophisticated way using the drop-down selection for each question in the Survey Responses tab and in the left panel of the Suggestions and Cheers tabs. Choose the desired Segments, and boom, you are done. You can also filter by Segment with Visualize as well.

Note: To protect anonymity, when a user is assigned to a particular Segment is changed from one Segment to another, their past Responses will remain with the original Segment. Their Responses will only be included in the new Segment for all surveys going forward, but will not be moved retroactively unless you reach out to our Support team by clicking here, who can backfill your Segment data for you.

Segment View

Viewing data by Segment allows you to view both the quantitative (numerical) and qualitative (text) survey Responses, graphs, numbered Responses, and additional feedback. You can also view Suggestions, Cheers, and Visualize data by Segment.  Selecting multiple Segments will allow you to see the combined results from the chosen Segments.

Attribute View

For Anonymous Surveys:

Viewing data by Attributes allows you to view only the average score of Scale or Boolean questions. Qualitative Responses, as well as the graph breakdown, are not displayed to protect anonymity.

For Confidential and Visible Surveys:

Viewing data by Attributes allows you to view both the quantitative and qualitative survey results, as well as the graph breakdown since anonymity is no longer a constraint.

Compare Groups

Viewing your survey results by various groups is just the tip of the iceberg. So much value lies in quickly understanding which groups are thriving and which groups need more support (based on the survey results).

When reviewing your results, pay close attention to your Focus Areas. Click View All to access the Heatmap view.

Once you are viewing the Heatmap, you can look at it for your Segments or each of your Attributes.

The scores are comparing against the Organization Average:

  • Green = Scored above the Organization Average
  • Red = Scored below the Organization Average

The darker the shade or red or green the further away the average score for that group is from the Organization Average.

Keep in mind, the Heatmap only displays Scale Questions since they have a numerical value, unlike Open-Text, Multiple Choice, or Boolean questions.

The Categories listed on the left-hand side are the Categories that the questions in the survey are sorted into. So, if your survey consists of questions that only relate to one Category, then only one Category will be displayed.

You can click each Category to see which questions belong to which Category and the corresponding results.

Filters Version

Once users are assigned to a Segment and/or a Filter/Attribute, you can select and view data in a more sophisticated way using the drop-down selection for each question in the Survey Responses tab and in the left panel of the Suggestions and Cheers tabs. Choose the desired Segments, Filters, or Attributes, and boom, you are done. You can filter by Segment with Visualize as well.

Note: To protect anonymity, when a user is assigned to a particular Segment is changed from one Segment to another, their past Responses will remain with the original Segment. Their Responses will only be included in the new Segment for all surveys going forward, but will not be moved retroactively unless you reach out to our Support team who can backfill your Segment data for you.

Segment View

Viewing data by Segment allows you to view both the quantitative and qualitative survey Responses, graphs, numbered Responses, and additional feedback. You can also view Suggestions, Cheers, and Visualize data by Segment. Selecting multiple Segments will allow you to see the combined results from the chosen Segments.

Filter View

Viewing survey Responses by Filter only displays quantitative results and you will not be able to see the qualitative data to protect the anonymity of the responders. Responses viewed by Filter will display the average Response score and Response rate only, without the histogram or additional feedback. Because of this, you can only see the Filters for Scale and Boolean questions. However, quantitative data is still useful to track certain factors by demographics, like happiness. Filters can only be used to narrow the results - selecting multiple Filters allows you to see the results from users who match all of the selected Filters.

Compare Segments

You can see how Segments compare against one another by clicking on the See all button in the Top Segments area of your survey results dashboard or by going to Reports and clicking on the Segments tab. Change the TINYpulse for the week of... dropdown menu to see different periods in time and different questions, or use the filter on the left to see just certain Segments.
